A record 8,000 schools signed up to Grow Your Own Potatoes 2008
Grow Your Own Potatoes 2008 is, quite simply, the most successful yet! This unique
project has caught the interest of primary schools nationwide and seen an increase
of 100% in the number of schools taking part since last year. Registrations have
therefore closed for 2008 but don't miss out - register your school now for a priority
place for 2009 by visiting the website.
Developed by the British Potato Council (BPC), it is one of the best ways to connect
children with potatoes. It also gives them a wider understanding of how food is
grown and produced, as well as the importance of a healthy balanced diet. It is
a fun, hands-on activity and has proven to be a big hit with pupils and teachers
alike.
Grow Your Own Potatoes supports the Year of Food and Farming, and in celebration
of this year which also marks the International Year of the Potato, the BPC will
be exhibiting at various Year of Food and Farming events throughout the country.
