KIDS LEARN ABOUT THE WORLD OF INSECTS DOWN ON JIMMY’S FARM
Jimmy Doherty, star of BBC2’s Jimmy’s Farm, came up close with the world of insects at the weekend, ahead of this month’s National Insect Week (23-29 June).
A one-time entomology student with a longstanding interest in insects, he invited a group of local children to his farm in Wherstead, Suffolk, to learn about the wide variety of farmland insect life.
Jimmy is only too pleased to lend his support to National Insect Week 2008 which is highlighting the role insects play in food production
and farming. The campaign counts the Year of Food and Farming as one of its official partners.
Jimmy said, ‘I am delighted to be supporting National Insect Week. It is so important that we understand the relationship between insects and our environment, especially in the world of food and farming.’
