Hurry – the competition deadline is July 10th for the thousands of schools nationwide taking part in Grow Your Own Potatoes 2008!
10th July is the deadline to submit your entry for the Potato Council’s schools competition to grow the heaviest crop of potatoes as part of the hugely popular ‘Grow Your Own Potatoes’ project. In order to enter the competition, schools need to have turned out their containers by 24th June and harvested a healthy crop!
The competition marks the climax of the project and if you have produced a bumper crop, you could win a fantastic digital camera for your school and you will also be featured on our schools website! There are additional regional prizes as well so don’t forget to enter. You need to submit your entry form online via our website www.potatoesforschools.org.uk. Full details are set out in the Teacher’s Centre and you can also compare the weight of your crop with one grown by our experts – click on ‘Potato Cam’. Good luck!
A colourful downloadable certificate is also available to mark your ‘growing’ achievement and put up in your classroom.
Grow Your Own Potatoes is a fun, hands-on activity which also supports various programmes of study in the curriculum. Check the website for full details – www.potatoesforschools.org.uk.
