Defra is the Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Defra works for the essentials of life - water, food, air, land, people, animals and plants. It is one of three government departments that are involved with the Year of Food and Farming.
As part of the Year we are encouraging more farmers to open up their farms to visits from schools under our Environmental Stewardship scheme. To find a farm near you willing to host a visit go to http://countrywalks.defra.gov.uk and follow the link to educational access sites.
Keep visiting our space to find out more about the Department’s involvement in the Year; we’ll be posting some blogs and pictures soon.
