"The Food for Life Partnership is looking to select 180 schools - 20 in every region in England - that are willing to go through a rapid process of food culture transformation and share their learning with other schools and communities.
Flagship Schools and Communities will be chosen to reflect a diverse range of community and school situations. We are looking for schools and caterers with the commitment and enthusiasm to improve food culture in the school and in the wider community. In particular, we are looking for commitment to:
• Work towards the Food for Life targets, using 75% fresh, 50% local and 30% organic ingredients in school food provision.
• Develop growing and cooking activity and farm links within the school and wider community.
• Create strong links with the local community around healthy eating & food culture.
• Make one or more SMT members responsible for supporting the FFLP programme and reporting against progress.
• Share learning with other schools and local communities.
All interested schools and communities must express interest via a short form that can be downloaded from the website. We are also seeking nominations from key regional public health and food procurement stakeholders.
If you are interested in becoming a Flagship School and Community, check your regional deadline and fill out an expression of interest form at www.foodforlife.org.uk"
