The Countryside Foundation for Education, an educational charity based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, runs Estate visits all over the country, where primary children can visit specific estates and find out how they are managed. They will learn about different areas in the estate, for example forestry, farming, fisheries, gamekeeping etc. These estate days take place in May, June, July and September and dates and venues for 2008 will be available soon.
Countryside Live is a country fair for primary school children, organisations carry out hands-on activities in marquees and children can have a go at for example, willow weaving or corn dolly making, learn about healthy eating and recycling, meet various farm animals, learn about gamekeeping,conservation and farming, visit the adjacent woods and learn about trees etc. There is also a central arena with sheepdog, gundog and falcon displays throughout the day. The next Countryside Live event will be held on the Ledston Estate, Nr Castleford, West Yorkshire on Wed 21st and Thurs 22nd May 2008.
