About The Year of Food and Farming

Get involved

There are lots of ways for everyone to get involved in the Year of Food and Farming!

Whether you’re a parent or carer, a potential sponsor, a teacher or an organisation wanting to make an offer to schools, you can help children learn more about food and farming this Year. Find out just how you can get involved by clicking on one of the following options:

Schools:

Schools can visit the Megamap to find out about offers of help and the Resource Bank for teaching resources. To find out about specific activities try visit, cook, grow, school food or careers.

Farmers, food business and other organisations:

Thousands of volunteers are needed to help children experience food and farming first-hand. There are lots of simple ways to get involved in the Year, including:

  • Opening your farm or business to schools
  • Offering to give talks about your food or farming business
  • Supporting schools with a growing activity, by providing a kit or by giving hands-on advice
  • Providing a school with recipe kits and ingredients

Register your offer now or find out more about working with schools.

Parents and carers:

The campaign looks to reconnect children and young people with food. A better understanding of where food comes from can help children develop long term healthy eating habits. Find out how you can support the Year.
